Wesley Surber is an astronomer and space science enthusiast from Beavercreek, Ohio. His first memorable encounter with a telescope was an unsuccessful attempt to see comet Hale-Bopp with a 3” refractor. Since then, his astronomy misfortunes have led to a deep passion for outer space and for sharing the wonders of the universe with the general public. Wesley founded nightShifted Astronomy in Wichita Falls, Texas in 2006 as a public outreach program to provide free astronomy education. Now based in Southwest Ohio, Wesley provides free telescope instruction as nightShifted Astronomy to area schools, organizations, and private individuals or groups. He is also a friend of the Cincinnati Observatory and Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus in Crowell, Texas.
